School Age Child Care
Y Crusaders follows the Alexandria Public Schools calendar and is an after school option for students K – 6 grade. Programming is available immediately following the school day until 6 pm. Transportation from Alexandria schools to the YMCA via Rainbow Rider or District #206 transportation from Lincoln Elementary is included in the cost of the program. Child care assistance is accepted and limited scholarships are available.
Y Crusaders build self-esteem, values and leadership skills. Each day, children participate in a well-rounded curriculum to stretch their minds and their bodies.
After School Y Crusaders Program is a structured environment for children after school. We have a curriculum that engages children in gym activities, games, crafts, homework help and more. Children have the opportunity to unwind after a long school day, greeted by our friendly staff. We provide an after school snack, while engage with students with our daily question (ex How many people are in your family?) during snack time. Then structured activity time we end our day with homework help.

When school is dismissed early, cancelled, on holiday break or starts late, the Y is the place to be. This program will have full access to YMCA facilities, including aquatic center, gymnasium, and playground. Lunch & snack are provided, but bring your swimsuit and towel!
When school is let out early, children who attend Lincoln Elementary will be dropped off at the Y by District #206 transportation. Children attending school elsewhere will be picked up and dropped off by the Rainbow Rider (parents must have Rainbow Rider paperwork filled out prior to early dismissal). Registration can be made in-house only.

Keep your kids active during the summer months! YMCA day camps have led kids in developing good values - and having fun - for more than 110 years. Today it's the YMCA's most widely offered program nationwide.
Summer Fun for your school age child starts at the Y! We have an engaging curriculum to provide fun all summer long! Weekly themes feature two scheduled field trips each week! Children will need to bring a sack lunch and swimsuit daily. The YMCA will provide daily snacks. Weekly themes include:
