Kara Elwood

Associate Executive Director

Kara began her YMCA career in 2002 at the Kandiyohi County Area Family YMCA. Kara joined the Alexandria Area YMCA team in 2010, and Health Enhancement Director.

She received a BS Degree in Education and Health & Wellness from Southwest State University.

Kara is also a certified Group Exercise and Water Fitness Instructor, Land and Water Certified Personal Trainer, CPR/First Aid Instructor, YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program Coach and Certified YMCA Organizational Leader.

Kara coordinates strategies for improving exercise habits and healthier lifestyles at the Y, through programs like personal training, healthy lifestyles, group exercise, and specialty health & wellness programs. Kara also has developed community partnerships for Worksite Wellness and the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program.

Kara and her husband Tony, live in Glenwood. Kara's hobbies include biking, walking, skiing, boating and spending time with family and friends.
