Alexandria Area YMCA Board of Directors

The Alexandria Area YMCA is a community non-profit (501c3) organization that serves the local community. The Alexandria Area YMCA is governed by a local Board of Directors (18) that has the primary responsibility of recommending and approving policies for the association. Additionally, the YMCA Board of Directors carries fiduciary responsibility and oversees the YMCA’s financial position. The YMCA Board is also responsible for the supervision of the CEO, volunteering time on the YMCA “Strong Kids” Campaign, developing the YMCA short-term and long-term strategic plan, as well as being a strong advocate of the YMCA in the community.

All board members serve on a volunteer basis, and are required to provide time on one of the YMCA nine standing committees: Financial Development, Finance, Program, Membership and Marketing, Property Management, Christian Emphasis, Executive and Child Care Advisory.

YMCA Board Members serve 3-year terms, and are eligible for a maximum of 6 consecutive years. YMCA Board Members are selected due to their position in the community, expertise in a particular field or area, strong commitment to the YMCA, leadership potential or prior YMCA involvement.
